Hola everyone!!

This week was crazy busy but tons of good things!!

Some highlights!!:

★ Had interviews with President and Sister Coleman this week! We chatted about Julio and got some solid advice so we're going to keep helping him and hopefully go to the temple the first weekend of November! 🫣

★ General Conference was of course amazing! We watched it with the ward on Sunday and then with some members on Saturday except for when the connection kept cutting out so we ended up missing a bit of Saturday morning which was tragic. 🥲

★ Had exchanges with Sister Mametieff which was super fun! I went to her area, which happens to be inside our area, so we pretty much just worked in both areas all day, found some English and Spanish people, so it was very productive!

A major highlight of the week was zone conference on Wednesday!! It was way different than any other, but it was super good and one of my favorites. Every zone conference I've ever been a part of has mostly consisted of trainings and it's pretty chill and calm, but this one was pretty much the complete opposite. They had us rotate through these tables that were just discussions on life advice, and then we drove up to Red Rock Canyon and split into different hikes. We had an hour to take time to split off and read our patriarchal blessings and identify the gifts we've been given, and it was honestly amazing. I'd encourage everyone to do the same and take the time to study your blessing, and if you don't have one yet, start preparing to get it!

One of my favorite talks from conference was President Oaks' all about The Family Proclamation. He said this one line that really resonated with me, which was "...parents remember, what those children really want for dinner is time with you." This is something my parents prioritized and it's something that I've become especially grateful for on my mission. You see all kinds of families and meet all kinds of people, and it's always a little bit sad when we have dinner with members and everyone's on their phones, the kids are eating in their rooms, the TV's on, etc. I have a super strong testimony of the importance of families and on making them a focus in our lives, and I've become more and more grateful for my family as I've been away from them and see how much of a blessing they are to me.

Make sure to keep studying the conference talks once they're published, they provide so much guidance and direction for our lives. Love y'all!!

Hey everyone!

This week was una locura as they say, but we made it through. 😅

The highlight of this week was definitely zone conference! It was probably the best conference of my mission, and every training was so good. My favorite thing that was said was by President Coleman, and he told a story about how someone was running up and down stairs at a basketball practice. This kid decided to give it his all for the last round of stairs, and when the coach noticed the change, he stopped the whole practice to ask the kid, "Why did you save it? Why didn't you give it your all from the beginning?" Why aren't we giving it our all every day? Something that has always been a big focus in this mission has been to give it everything, every single day. We've been frequently trained to live one day at a time, to think about what we would do if it was our last day on the mission, and to do everything in our power to be able to go home with no regrets. President's invitation for us was to think about what we're saving, what we're holding back, and then to get rid of it. To give it our all every single day and recommit ourselves to the work so that when we leave, we can honestly say that we gave it everything we had. It was a very powerful training, and I think everyone left a little more invigorated to go out and get to work.

Other things that happened this week:

☆ We were actually in our area for a whole day, and we knocked doors for the first time in a really long time and it was so fun. I didn't love knocking doors at the beginning of my mission, but it's now one of my favorite things to do.

☆ We had 4 sisters stay with us last night and it was literally the funnest night of my whole mission.

☆ I had an exchange with Sister Parks, and it was a party and a half. 🥳

☆ Our district leader taught us how to fireknife (spin one of the sticks they light on fire in luaus, i.e. Lilo & Stitch), and we're making our own today because the mops that we're using aren't very good for it apparently. That's been a major highlight and has kept us extremely entertained.

This week was probably one of the funnest ever, there were so many activities and just super fun things.

This week we had... ZONE CONFERENCE!! 🥳 We had to meet in a different building than normal which turned out to be catastrophic because the AC was broken. 🫠💀 The senior missionaries were running around the whole time and setting up fans with trays of ice in front of them to try to cool it down, but I’ll just tell you right now that it didn't work. Besides that, it was an awesome conference! It was a sad one though because Sister Glauser gave her departing testimony and I might've been a wreck that whole time, and then they had us end by singing, "God Be With You Till We Meet Again." Whoever's idea that was is actually evil and I think there were like 5 people still singing by the end. RIP the Nielsens. 🪦

My favorite message came from Sister Nielsen who always gives the best ones (in my opinion). Her message was all about getting to the Tree of Life that's talked about in Lehi's dream (1 Nephi 8). Our goal in life should be getting there, and once we've made it to the Tree of Life, what are we going to do to stay there? 🌳

Other highlights!!:

☆ Sister Glauser and I got to have one last exchange before she leaves, and she literally is just my favorite ever. Celestial friends fr. 🤍 She also cut my hair and let's just say that it could be a lot worse than it is!!

☆ We had Departing Activities with the Nielsens which consisted of games and then a 2-hour Q&A with them. It was so sad, but we all held it together until they started crying at the end. Then it wasn't great. 🥲

☆ We went on a road trip to Sandy Valley! 🚗 Sandy Valley is in the actual middle of nowhere (aka still part of our area) so we went out just to see if there was anyone waiting for missionaries. There was not. We got called Jehovah's Witnesses two houses in a row so not the biggest success ever, but we did have a good time.

☆ We had a stake breakfast and got to hold Tank the Turtle. 🐢

One of the Nielsens’ final pieces of advice was regarding how we can stay on the covenant path for the rest of our lives. President likes to use a bowling analogy and says there are two "gutter guards" that'll help us stay in the lane and not go to the gutters. These things are 1. Daily immersion in the Book of Mormon, and 2. Attending the temple as frequently as our circumstances allow. A verse stood out to me this week and has to go along with the part about reading the Book of Mormon to stay strong. It's Alma 33:14 and it says "...I would ask if ye have read the scriptures? If ye have, how can ye disbelieve on the Son of God?" It's so true honestly. I've never read the Book of Mormon as in-depth as I have on my mission, and it's been one of the best experiences of my life. It's strengthened my testimony so much, and I know that as we study it daily for the rest of our lives, that nothing will be able to take us off the path.

Happy Easter everybody! This was such a miracle-filled week, and we had so many fun things!

A big miracle this week was Easter Sunday! We have 3 wards, but we unfortunately weren't made aware of the fact that one of our 9:00 wards was going to be combined with our 10:30 ward, and this was the ward that Jacobo and his mom had been planning on coming to. They ended up driving 20 minutes to our other 9:00 ward which was such a miracle because we've been trying to get them at church for WEEKS now, and they finally made it even though it didn't quite go to plan. 🙏 We ended up having the most friends at church I've ever had on my mission and they were all unexpected. It was so cool to see that people were willing to make the effort to come worship on the greatest day in history!

Fun things of this week:

★ Highlight of the week was Zone Conference! This was the Nielsens’ 2nd-to-last zone conference, and they spent an hour just giving little pieces of advice. They were all super specific and it was such a Spirit-filled part of the conference.

★ Sand volleyball on pday! 🏐 Except the sand was pretty much just pebbles and it'd been cooking in the 95-degree weather all day, so I'm fairly positive we all had 2nd-degree burns on our feet by the end of that. It was way fun though and my team won. 💪

★ Easter concert! Jenny Oaks Baker came back to Las Vegas for an Easter concert, and we got to go with Veronica. It was amazing, of course, and was such a good intro to the next day, Easter! 🎻

★ We had such a long day on Thursday and were so ready to go to bed, so I went out to grab water before we got in bed and I saw the most gigantic cockroach I've ever seen running across the floor towards me.🪳 So I yell for Sister Arce because she's way braver than me, and for the next 20 minutes she was hunting for that thing. She finds it, kills it. Next morning I'm saying my morning prayer, and I look over for who knows what reason, another GIANT cockroach is in my closet. It was fortunately already dead but Sister Arce also had to dispose of that one. Best comp ever!! 🥰

I reread one of my favorites talks this week called "Sunday Will Come" by Elder Wirthlin and this is kind of long, but I especially loved this part.

"I think of how dark that Friday was when Christ was lifted up on the cross. I think that of all the days since the beginning of this world’s history, that Friday was the darkest. But the doom of that day did not endure. The despair did not linger, because on Sunday, the resurrected Lord burst the bonds of death. He ascended from the grave and appeared gloriously triumphant as the Savior of all mankind. Each of us will have our own Fridays—those days when the universe itself seems shattered, and the shards of our world lie littered about us in pieces. We all will experience those broken times when it seems we can never be put together again. We will all have our Fridays. But I testify to you in the name of the One who conquered death—Sunday will come. In the darkness of our sorrow, Sunday will come. No matter our desperation, no matter our grief, Sunday will come. In this life or the next, Sunday will come."

I know that Sunday will come! Sometimes it feels like those Fridays never really end, that it seems impossible for Sunday to come, but I know that it will, thanks to Jesus Christ and His atoning sacrifice for us.

Hey y'all! Another week down and it was a thrilling one. Here are some quick highlights of the week:

☆ Zone Conference!🥳 So many good messages (of course) but one of my favorites was from Sister Nielsen. She talked about the importance of handing our weaknesses and trials to the Lord each day. We have a list as missionaries of the things we're responsible for, and she talked about the Lord having a list of everything else that isn't for us to worry about—the things that He's promised to take care of while we're doing this work. The scripture she shared was Alma 26:27 which talks about how when we're patient with our trials and keep moving forward, the Lord will give us success.

☆ Paola's 4-year old son told me he was going to marry me and gave me a promise bracelet.🥰

☆ Got to go on a little blitz with Sista Bank and it was a PARTY. Like genuinely had such a good time and we were dying laughing the whole day.

☆ I got to give a last-minute talk on Sunday about faith, and I was actually super grateful for the opportunity because it made me reflect on my life and experiences, but also the amazing examples of faith that I've had in my life, particularly my dad. Something incredible about my dad is that when he got baptized, he ended up taking a huge leap of faith and decided to serve a mission. He had to give up essentially everything that he had and just trust in the Lord's plan and timing for him. Obviously it worked out because he ended up with a dream family😇, but it's always been such an example for me of how I need to just trust in the Lord and His plan for me.

☆ Night church is going CRAZY everyone. Normally, there are probably about 15-20 people that attend, but a few weeks ago, we had a meeting about how to increase church attendance. Our Zone Leaders suggested that we try teaching English classes before night church because that's how we always got so many people in my last area, so we decided to give it a shot. Last Sunday, there were 52 people at night church!!!🤯 This week, I think there were around 40 people there which is still crazy.

☆ Beatriz is getting baptized THIS SATURDAY!😭 We're literally so excited for her that we have a paper chain counting down until the day. She's so cute and is so ready and excited!!

That's it for this week! It was a really good week with so many lessons learned and takeaways that will be handy for the rest of my life, so it was a 10/10 in my book. Also, pray for Sister Glauser really hard this week that she can come back out soon and that is everything is back to normal.🤞Love you all and hope you have the best week ever!

This week was a rollercoaster of everything so here we go.

Some highlights of this week:

Zone Conference! I've always loved Zone Conference, but this one was amazing, and I felt like every single training and message was perfect for me. There was one invitation which was to ask these 3 questions in our prayers every day until we have an answer:

This week was a little bit slower so this shouldn't be too long (fingers crossed).

HIGHLIGHTS:

The biggest highlight this week was our lesson with Jezania. Jezania is one of our recent converts and she's so sweet. Last transfer, Sister Glauser and I were having a lesson with her when she asked us for a favor. She said that her daughter was struggling and was living alone in Mexico, and Jezania wanted the missionaries to go visit her because she knew the gospel could help her daughter. She gave us the info, we sent it over to the missionaries in Mexico, and we didn't think about it again, honestly.

After our lesson on Saturday, Jezania was super smiley, and she told Sister A and me that she had a present for us. She pulled out her phone and was scrolling for a minute. I was just wondering what kind of gift required a phone or scrolling, and then she showed us her gift. It was her daughter's baptism invitation! She was getting baptized THE NEXT DAY. I actually had tears in my eyes because it was so cool to see that because of Jezania being baptized, her daughter is now getting baptized, and it really just showed me how amazing this work is!!

On Wednesday we had our ward Trunk or Treat which was so fun but also so cold!! I think it was a solid 50 degrees and all of us missionaries were actually freezing because 50 doesn't seem like it's that cold until you compare it to the 120 that we got used to. Trunk or Treat was awesome though, JULIO CAME, and we got to have a lesson with him while we were there. Baptism is still on for November 16th so please pray it stays there.

At night church on Sunday (the ward for people who can't make it to church during the day because of work), we had such a miracle. Normally, you go if you have a friend who has actually confirmed they're going to go and if they don't show up after like 30 minutes, that means they aren't coming. We got a referral from some elders and when we called him to invite him to church that morning, he told us he couldn’t, but he could go to night church. We confirmed it with him a lot and he said he'd be there.

We get there at 7, call him, he says he's coming. We wait until 7:35, call him again, he says he's just leaving and will be here in 15 minutes. At this point, by the time he gets there, there will only be 10 minutes left. We tell him this, but he says he wants to come and will be there. It is literally 7:58 when Marcos walks in, we go and sit down, the teacher fortunately is a bit of a talker, so it didn't actually end for another 15 minutes, but that was just crazy to see his desire and dedication. He said he'll come again next week, and we hopefully have a lesson with him tomorrow so that was a miracle!
