First update: trio life!! To be honest with you all, I was pretty scared to be in a trio. I feel like I haven't heard glowing reviews about them, so let me be the first: it's so fun!! It's definitely been an adjustment, but it's such a party. Sister Kamp is so sweet and chill and funny, and then Sister Peraza is still amazing Sister Peraza, so it's actually been such a good time. Praying it lasts another 5 weeks.🙏
Big event #1: BEATRIZ IS ON DATE!!! This area has been a little slow these past transfers, and so we made a goal as a district yesterday to mention baptism to 300 people, and extend 50 baptismal invitations this week. We'd already been planning on bringing it up with Beatriz, but this was the extra push we needed. We had a lesson with her last night, and she started crying when we brought up baptism because she could feel the Spirit so strongly. It was so amazing and now she's on date for February 1st!
Big event #2: I got to go to a family sealing and that was a big event for me. Our angel Relief Society president and her family were sealed on Saturday, and that was literally one of the coolest experiences of my mission. I've never been to a sealing before, but it was amazing to think about the fact that with a few words (and the power of God), we're able to be with our families forever. That's one of the greatest blessings I could ever ask for, and getting to see someone else be sealed for all time and eternity was so special.
There was a quote this week that I read from a talk by Elder Gary B. Sabin, called Hallmarks of Happiness. This talk is about how we can be truly happy, no matter the circumstances. In his talk, he said, "... you will never be happier than you are grateful." When my mission started, I decided that at the end of every day, when I was done writing in my journal, I would write the 3 things I'd been most grateful for that day/miracles I saw. I've done that every day of my mission, and I genuinely don't think I've ever repeated a single thing because THERE'S SO MUCH TO BE GRATEFUL FOR! Even on the days when lessons fall through, when no one wants to hear a message, when we're literally outside for 30 minutes in a day because of studies and meetings, there is always something to be grateful for! I want to challenge you all to keep a gratitude journal or something similar this year because for me, I honestly think it's made the difference for me on my mission. Missions and life are hard and there's no way to avoid that. BUT we can make them a little bit easier when we recognize all of the blessings and miracles in our lives.
Sorry, that was long, but it was such a good week! I hope you're all doing well, and thank you always for the prayers and emails, they make a difference. Love you all!
