Letter #27: GRINGAAA🤍

Happy New Year to everyone! Hope the start of your year has been as exciting as mine.

First big thing: TRANSFER NEWS! Plot twist of the literal century, I'm staying in my area and trio training with Sister Peraza!!!🥳 I'm a little nervous to train again AND be in a trio, but I'm also excited for this one. It'll be a wild ride I already know. We get to go pick up our niña today so y'all will get an update on that next week.

I think everyone in Las Vegas made a New Year's resolution to stop being an absolute hater of the missionaries because people actually talked to us and were nice which was awesome, especially after the Christmas season when I think everyone made a resolution to ignore us and be mean. We went to visit a member yesterday and a lady came out of the house across the street and started telling us all of the neighborhood drama (thinking we lived at the house we were visiting). When the story ended, we offered her a picture of Jesus and she was so excited, and then she saw that we were sisters and gave us hugs and told us to come back whenever we wanted. Turns out she isn't a member, but she's actually elect so we'll be visiting her again.

If y'all remember Juana from like 3 transfers ago, guess what? She's in my area again! She moved and is now in my area, so she came to church with us on Sunday and bore her testimony and it was actually the sweetest thing ever. I love seeing our recent converts keep progressing, and it's so amazing to see their testimonies grow and watch the gospel change their lives for the better.

Something that's happened a lot in the past 2 weeks has been comments on how white I am. All I know is that for all of you who told me I'd get so tan in Vegas, it was a lie. Two weeks ago, our dinner conversation for 20 minutes was about how white I was. The hermano told me that I "didn't cook long enough, and I came out raw," and that he "cooked too long and came out crispy.” THEN, our cutie little mission grandparents asked me if my ancestry was British and German/Scandinavian during lunch because "most white people at least have a little color because they're mixed with something else, but you're just white white." The cherry on top was Brianna, my favorite 7-year-old in the whole world, telling me that my white sweater was the same color as my skin. And that my wrists looked blue because of how pale they were. Send help.

I think that might be all for this week. Send prayers again for Sister Peraza and me (and the niña) that everything can go well and we'll all just party it up and have the best transfer ever! Thanks for all the love and support!
