Hey everyone!
This week was actually so amazing! Probably the best week I've had out here, honestly, so this might be a lengthier email.
Miracles!
There were SO MANY miracles this week. If we're being honest, the first few weeks here didn't have a lot of visible progress. We talk to a ton of people, set up lessons, get their numbers, but then they’re all fake and fall through. This week though we had two of the coolest lessons of my mission.
1. Sophia! Sophia is this cute little 10-year-old girl who was on date for baptism in April! She was supposed to get baptized on her 10th birthday, which happened to be General Conference weekend or Easter, might've been both. She was so ready, so excited, and then there were some family problems, and it was canceled. Since then, her mom hasn't let her meet with the missionaries and her dad doesn't live in the area.
So, we were at the end of our day the other day, and Sister Glauser and I both thought we should go by Sophia's before going home. We'd stopped before but they'd never answered or been home. So, we go over, knock, and they open the door! The mom doesn't want to let us in, but Sophia tells her to, so we go in. We're sitting talking about life and the mom starts crying because she feels like she's alone and that she isn't doing enough for her family.
We shared our thoughts and a scripture, and by the end of the lesson we were all crying. The Spirit was so strong, we literally had goosebumps. We asked to end it with a prayer, and Sophia asked if her mom could say it because she hasn't seen her pray in a long timeðŸ˜.

Her mom thanked us for coming and told us she needed to hear from us so she could stop being angry with God and the church. It was the best lesson hands down. We're going back this week to hopefully put Sophia on date and get her baptized for real this time, so pray hard that it happens!
2. Juana! Juana is a 70-year-old lady who was referred to us by elders in another area, and she's actually elect (ready to be baptized). She's gone to other churches but said that ours bring her the most peace and happiness. She agrees with literally anything we teach and she's just so precious. We're also hoping to put her on date this week so pray that goes well, too!
Now these two lessons might sound super cool, but they were actually such miracles because our baptismal goal for the month was 3 people! It's been pretty much impossible because no one comes to church, but we had 1 on date. However, with these two lessons this week, another 2 can be baptized by the end of August because they've met all the requirements. So, pray really super hard for Juana and Sophia and Jezania and that they can all be baptized this month!!
Sorry, that was actually so long but it was the highlight of my week. Now fun things!
1. Sister Glauser was having an actual existential crisis in church the other day because she couldn't remember the name of a round Southern girl who apparently said she wants more fingers so she could eat more cheese puffs? We're sitting in Sunday School, and she taps my leg and is super excited and was like, "I think I have it, I think I have it!" Then she went quiet for like 2 minutes and proceeds to lean over to tell me that she thinks the name of the girl is Bubbalumpkin? We finally figure out that it's Honey Boo Boo but now she won't stop calling me Bubbalumpkin which feels insulting.
2. We had exchanges this week and I was in a crazy nice area—Draper vibes—and one of the members gave us root beer floats which was a major highlight. It was weird though because in my area people are always super friendly and willing to talk to you, but it was not the same for this area. No one really talked to us, and we had 0 lessons with friends and a lot of member lessons, which is also the complete opposite of my area. It honestly made me more grateful for my area, haha.
I think that's all for this week! If y'all want to read a scripture that brought Sophia’s mom a lot of peace, go read Helaman 5:45-47 for me. It worked for her so hopefully it works for you too. Love you all!
