Hey all!
This was a really eventful week with a lot of fun experiences. We got out a
lot more this week, which was really nice. Our invitation from Sister Nielsen
for the past week was to declare our purpose to 20 people each day
(essentially talk to them and mention baptism) and it was really cool to do
because it felt like we talked to way more people than we normally do, and it
honestly was just more fun. I think I had a better attitude of being outside
in 115-degree heat because we talked to so many people that it made it go by
pretty quickly.
Fun Things:
1. Last night I actually did the most embarrassing thing of my whole entire life. We were on the Nielsens' Nuggets Zoom call and President Nielsen announced the name of the Elder who was going to give the thought. I, without thinking, just repeated the name with a Southern accent, thinking I was on mute. Turns out I wasn't. Hehe and yikes. And the way we figured that out was the shocked/laughing face of Sister Nielsen that popped up on our screen and then it clicked in my head, and I realized that the whole entire mission just heard me say that out loud. We immediately muted ourselves, turned off the camera, and then I collapsed on the kitchen floor and laughed/cried. It was actually mortifying, and I haven't stopped thinking about it since then. Then to make it even better, Sister Nielsen messaged me and was just laughing, which was just so amazing, and then Elder Christensen (the Elder who was giving the thought) messaged us and was just dying laughing.

Good news though everyone, I just asked the other Elders if they saw it or
could tell who said it, and they said they just saw our screen pop up but they
didn't see who said it AND they didn't see the faces of pure horror that we
apparently made when we realized we weren't on mute. So, the lesson you should
take away from this is to always make sure you're on mute and don't say the
intrusive thoughts that come into your mind.
2. An old guy that we were talking to told me that I shouldn't keep any secrets in my life because I'll contract demons if I do that! He also grabbed my arm and was inspecting it and told me that I have my dad’s character and then he guessed that I look like my dad and my eyes came from him. So, he was an interesting guy for sure, but he was right about me looking like my dad so maybe I should listen to him.
3. I got to play the piano at a baptism this week so that was fun! I also had to speak last minute, and by last minute I mean the Stake President turned around and told me to go up right then because they needed to fill the time. So that was a little stressful, but it ended up being just a short little testimony about baptism because the lady being baptized came out pretty quickly. That was the first baptism I've been to here and it was a super neat experience though!

Spiritual Things:
1. We had Zone Conference this week and it was really awesome. The theme of the conference was Doctrine and Covenants 4:2 which says "Therefore, O ye that embark in the service of God, see that ye serve him with all your heart, might, mind and strength, that ye may stand blameless before God at the last day." But the theme was that we serve with all our heart, might, mind, strength, and faith. They talked about how we always have to have 100% faith in the work because if not, A) things won't happen and B) we won't find joy in the work. And for me, if I'm here for 18 months, I'm hoping to find joy in the work, and so far, it's been working! Pretty much what I learned was that when we're ready to give our all, we will receive all.
2. A miracle this week was that Sister Glauser was super sick for a few days, but any time we went out knocking she would be totally fine. Maybe a little pain but it was crazy to see because I was about ready to call someone and tell them that my companion was dying, but if we were outside the apartment and were talking to people, she was totally fine. That was for sure a tender mercy!
Some fun facts of this week:
- It is possible to choke on a piece of rice. A member gave us dinner and we were eating in our car, and I actually nearly saw the pearly gates. I was pretty much heaving to try to get the rice out but no worries I'm still alive.
- Sister Glauser and I actually suck at harmonizing. We can only harmonize the last line of Country Roads but besides that it's actually horrible, so that's what we work on when we're walking around.
- Sister Glauser was born to be a basketball player. I've been teaching her how to shoot a ball and she's actually pretty good, but we're shooting on a real hoop today so we'll see if it will pay off.
I think that might be all for this week everyone! Thanks for reaching out and emailing me, keep it up! Miss you and love you all!
