🎂🍀 Letter 37: St. Patrick's Day 🍀🎂

Happy late St. Patrick’s Day everyone!!!🍀 Literally best holiday ever, and yesterday's was one of the more memorable ones.

Yesterday, we had the opportunity to have an "Alma Experience." This meant that we had personal study from 9-4 and were supposed to study Mosiah 13-18, as well as “Go to Gethsemane.” Going to Gethsemane is a document that President created at the beginning of my mission and it's a process of things to watch, read, write, and think about to help you more fully understand the Atonement and how it applies personally to each of us. If you're interested in seeing what it is, let me know and I can send you the document!!

Here were some of the things that happened this week:

☆ On exchanges, we went into a house where the lady was cooking chilis on the stove. We all could not stop coughing and had tears the whole time, but she said she would be interested so we get to go back!

☆ We knocked on a door this week, but no one answered. As we were leaving, someone yelled to us from the backyard. We got to the fact we were missionaries, and he asked us what we had to do to be missionaries. We told him we had to be members, and then he asked how he could become a member. We told him he had to be baptized, and then asked him if he wanted to be baptized (not expecting anything). He said yes!!! Didn't honestly know how to react but we got his info and are headed back this week. 😎

☆ Jacobo's baptism is being postponed because of some stuff at home, so pray hard for him and his mom!

☆ Veronica's getting baptized on Saturday! She was having a little bit of a crisis last night, so we called her, and it ended with her in tears, telling us how grateful she was and excited. Pray hard for her too!

☆ Relief Society had a fun little activity on Saturday and it was so cute to see everyone dressed up. I unfortunately did not bring my pioneer clothes on my mission, but they still let us participate.

☆ It was my birthday! Got to do the Alma Experience and then Zulay had us for dinner and made Uruguayan chicken and sausage which was SO GOOD. 😋

That's it for this week! My favorite thing I studied this week was Mosiah 14, especially verse 5. It says, "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed." It reminds me of the hymn, A Poor Wayfaring Man of Grief, particularly verses 6 and 7. They say:

6.In pris’n I saw him next, condemned
To meet a traitor’s doom at morn.
The tide of lying tongues I stemmed,
And honored him ’mid shame and scorn.
My friendship’s utmost zeal to try,
He asked if I for him would die.
The flesh was weak; my blood ran chill,
But my free spirit cried, “I will!”

7.Then in a moment to my view
The stranger started from disguise.
The tokens in his hands I knew;
The Savior stood before mine eyes.
He spake, and my poor name he named,
"Of me thou hast not been ashamed.
These deeds shall thy memorial be;
Fear not, thou didst them unto me.”

Would my free spirit cry "I will?" That was something I thought a lot about during the “Go to Gethsemane” process, and how Christ DID volunteer. He DID say He would, and we are so blessed because of it.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes and messages this week, it made my day, honestly. Love you all and hope this week is amazing! (Please pray for Jacobo and Veronica!!!)
