Letter #23: 🌊MAILIN🌊

Hey everyone!

This was a pretty good week! A few big things happened, but besides that, there was nothing too thrilling, so this might be shortish.

1. We had a service project that we got to do called Santa Clothes! We were assigned a kid and then we just got to go shop around JCPenney with them. It was so fun, and our girl was literally the funniest person ever. She had some expensive taste but she's actually going to be so decked out for the holidays, so we had a great time.

2. Camila went to the temple! Remember last week how I said she wasn't going to Colombia? Well plot twist, her plans changed, and she actually ended up having to go to Colombia, BUT she had her priorities straight and she wanted to go to the temple before she left. We ended up going to the temple and doing Baptisms for the Dead with her for some of her family members, which was an amazing experience. We went to the temple, and then she went straight to the airport to go to Colombia! It was so awesome that we got to go with her before she left and was such a blessing that everything managed to work out.

3. MAILIN GOT BAPTIZED!!! If y'all remember pretty much my first email, Mailin was a door we knocked on my first full day here in Vegas. I've been teaching her for the past 3 transfers and put her on date, and so when I got transferred out of my last area, I was so sad because I didn't think that I'd be able to go to her baptism. However, we got permission to go to the baptism which was so special. I love Mailin so much and she's had such a light since the beginning, so it was so cool that she was finally able to be baptized and confirmed.

Those were the big things of this week! Sister Peraza and I are thriving, this area is actually so dead and we're trying to revive it but it's not going great. So that's been an adjustment but it's all good!

Quick thought of the week: There have been a few challenges this week that have made me a little nervous for the future, but I've been able to really turn to one of my favorite scriptures and find a lot of peace from it. It's 2 Timothy 1:7, and it says: "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." Even when we don't totally know what things may look like or how they'll turn out, it's important, for me at least, to remember that that fear isn't coming from God. Heavenly Father gives us hope, peace, and the strength that we need to keep going even when we don't know what's going to happen. Always remember that He loves you, is rooting for you, and knows what's best for you! Love you all and hope you're having a great holiday season.
