Letter #14: Conference Weekend!

Hola!

This week was so amazing because...we had general conference!!! I didn't really know what conference would look like here, but it was incredible, and they were probably the best sessions of conference of my life.

For the Sunday sessions, our plan was to meet as a district at our chapel and all of our friends would meet there. For the first session, 1 friend showed up. Not 1 per companionship, literally just 1 friend between all of us. BUT, it's a friend who hasn't come to church even though he's been taking lessons for months now, so that was a miracle.

For the 2nd session, Sister Glauser and I didn't think we'd have any friends show up (they'd all said no) so we decided to just head home because the metal chairs were no longer fun. We got home, and as soon as we walked in, a random person in our contact list called us because she had decided to come to church that day but there wasn't anyone there except for the elders. So, we got to go back to the church and watch conference with this lady who is now taking lessons! It was such a miracle because all of our more reliable, steady friends didn't even come, but this lady did. She loved it and told us that it was so beautiful to hear all of these prophets testifying of Jesus Christ and telling the world about Him.

Honestly, all of it was such a testimony builder for me because we ended up watching most of the Sunday sessions in Spanish (which I've obviously never done) and it was so cool to hear the messages being translated right in the moment. The messages are still the same, the Spirit we felt was still the same, and it really just testified of President Nelson's statement at the end of his talk about these messages being for the whole world.

Also, just wanted to share my favorite quote from conference which was by Sister Yee. She said, "Our need for healing and help is not a burden to Him, but is the very reason He came." A lot of the time, I feel like there are other people with bigger problems than my own, and I should just take care of my problems myself, but I know that Christ came here for each one of us so that He can help us. It's not a burden to Him, but the very purpose of all He did! I've been able to see that not only in my life, but in the lives of all the people around me, and I know for a fact it's true. So, turn to Him with your burdens, with all of your trials and challenges, and He will help and heal you!

Another amazing event we had this weekend was the mission music devotional on Sunday night. This mission genuinely has so many insanely talented missionaries, so there was a big music devotional, and the Spirit was so strong. I got to play the piano for a musical number and I'm just so grateful for the talents that we each have that we get to share with the people around us. Our friend Javier came and said he felt so much peace and joy, and he's praying about baptism right now!! So, all in all, this weekend was a spiritual high not only for me, but for all of our friends who were able to participate.

Besides that, not much else is new this week. I got to go on an exchange with Sister Luker this week (she's a literal angel) and that was an actual party. We had one of the best dinners I've had, got to go knock around an area that gave Draper vibes, and she bought me an ice cream cone, so it was a win overall.

Sister Santillan is literally DITCHING me to go to Peru today and I'm so mad because now I don't have anyone to go on exchanges with and we'll never be companions. SO SAD.

Another miracle: Our other friend Julio is on date! We honestly didn't really plan to put him on, but it just happened, and he said yes! Last week miracle!

OK, now that's all. We get transfer news on Sunday so pleaseeee pray that Sister Glauser and I stay together for the next transfer (or until she goes home in June). Love you all, hope you had a great weekend, and make sure to listen to or read the conference talks when they come out! Love you!
