Letter #4: Welcome to Las Vegas!

Hey everyone!!

This has actually been the busiest, most insane week of my life, haha. Also, apologies in advance because this letter might be really long, but it's not my fault because there's too much good stuff I want to share with you all!

Two weekends ago (?) was my last weekend at the MTC 😞
We got to go to the temple one last time, had our final classes, and then we were all off. It was sad to leave, but I'm glad I'm here now. I left Tuesday morning (the 23rd) and that was the longest, most overwhelming day of my life, in all seriousness. We were up at 5, took buses and trains and trax to the airport, and thankfully, my flight was not canceled unlike half of my district's. Long story short, I made it to Vegas! First day was a blur, just lots of introductions and meetings and then we taught English classes that night.

As a lot of you know, this is a biking mission, but I've already seen a miracle in the fact that I was assigned to a car-only area. The ONLY car-only area in the mission. I've also been assigned to the most Spanish area in the mission so I'm having a great time, honestly. It's the closest area to downtown Vegas so we did see that from across the freeway the other night. Also, there are only 6 Spanish-speaking Sisters in this mission so I'm hoping I stay in this area for a while.

My comp, Hna. Glauser, is such an answer to prayers and is the best trainer I could ask for. She's been out for 6 months and this is her first time training but she's killing it so far. We're really fun for the members to feed because she has Celiac's and I've got my own allergies, so only 1/4 member dinners have actually happened, and I don't think that's a coincidence. But we're having a great time and are living off of whatever food we can find in the pantry from the previous companionship. We did go shopping today and are now set for at least a week though so no worries.

Our day-to-day activities are essentially wake up, study, knock on doors, eat, study, knock on doors, and teach lessons. All I know is that Brother Walker and Sister Brockbank told us in the MTC that you don't actually knock much on your mission, so they either lied to make us feel better or my mission is just built differently. But in all fairness, it's not horrible. It's kinda fun because Hna. Glauser and I just talk while we're walking around, and then she bullies me for liking Jello even though she eats nasty mud-looking pudding (picture below).

Thank you to everyone who has been praying I don't die in the heat--I'm still alive. Honestly, it's hot, but I can't tell the difference between 105 and 117 so it evens out and is bearable, at least for now. Also, we receive about 3 water bottles each day from doors we knock on, which is the greatest blessing.

We got lost last night trying to find one of our friends, but we ended up finding this woman who just moved here a month ago with her family from Venezuela. She was super interested and had us schedule another lesson with her, and she and her family are going to start coming to English classes! No such thing as coincidence.

We also had a family show up to "night church" which we weren't expecting so that was amazing. Night church is essentially just a branch for people who are working during the day, but it's mainly just friends who come and it's super cool.

I think that might be all for this week! Thank you all for the prayers and emails, keep sending them! Also, we're not allowed to reply on Messenger so if you message me, I can only react to it, but I'll try to email you, haha. Love you all, and thanks for the support!

Con amor,
Hna. Pursglove
