Exchanges🤩🤪

July 29, 2025 0
Hey y'all!

This week was so fun, and the thought of my mission ending is making me ill.

Highlights!!

★ Jeziel passed the Sacrament at church! I've never had my own recent convert be the one to pass me the Sacrament and it was such a tender little moment, I was so happy. 🥲 We're going to the temple with him this week so pray that it happens! 🙏

★ We had a lesson with our friend Jonathan, and it ended with him agreeing to pray about being baptized on August 16th!!🌊 It was honestly kinda wild because we've met him like once, but Sister Menchi was super bold and challenging and now he's praying about baptism!

★ Exchange with Sister Pope in my favorite area!!😍🥳 I got to spend the day in my last area with Sis. Pope and it was legitimately so much fun. We had some awesome lessons, and she literally just led everything with no problems, and I was so proud, hehe. 😊 Pretty much this is just me hyping up Sister Pope and it was the best day ever. We also got an hour-long blitz together on Saturday and anytime I get to see her is such a highlight for me.

☆ Sub-highlight of that was getting to visit my member mission mom, Zulay!!👩‍👧 She somehow found out I was in the area (I messaged her and told her to have us over🤪) and we just happened to end up at her house!! She's the best. 🫶

★ Exchange with Sister Menchi!! Sister Menchi is tragically going home but we got one last exchange together and it was an absolute party. She's so fun and is such a hard worker, and we had some awesome lessons thanks to her! Also had a blitz with her on Monday to take her to the best restaurant ever. 😋

★ Blitz with Sister Wright! You know someone's fun when you knock doors for 4 hours, in 105° heat, in the worst area of Vegas (aka rich white people👎) and you don't even want to quit and go home because you're just laughing so hard!!

Tad R. Callister gave a devotional at the Provo MTC in 2008 called "Becoming a Consecrated Missionary,” and we were reading it this week as a zone. My favorite thing about it was where he said, "The Lord demands our whole soul on the sacrificial altar. That is the price we must pay, and when we do, we then become instruments in the hands of God." He's talking to missionaries here, but it applies to everyone! We have to give our all to the Lord. We have to dedicate our time, talents, and energy to this cause, because it is the single greatest cause on earth today.

Love you all! Pray that President sends me to the one area I haven't been in (aka the best spanish area) for transfers!! We'll see what happens🤞

Letter 55: 🌊Jeziel's Weekend🥳

July 22, 2025 0
Hola! 👋🏻

Ok, I know I said last week was the best week of my whole mission, but I actually think this weekend was the best weekend of my whole life.

JEZIEL GOT BAPTIZED!!!🤩🥳😭😱😁 We were honestly a little worried because we know that the adversary tends to go absolutely feral the week of a baptism and mess things up. Thursday night, Jeziel comes up to us after English classes with the most frantic look on his face and tells us he needs to talk to the branch president on Friday. I was like ohhhh no, but we asked him how he was feeling about Saturday, and he says that he needs to be baptized more than ever, so that was a win. He met with President Kidd on Friday, everything is fine and there were no issues, but it was a jumpscare and a half.

Saturday was baptism day!!!🙌 He showed up 30 minutes early with his sister (who's an inactive member) and his mom. The baptism started, talks were given, and then Jeziel got baptized! Turns out the water was a little toasty and he wouldn't stop making jokes about baptism by fire and how he didn’t know his sins had to be burned out of him, but he's fine, just dramatic.🙄 It was super Spirit-filled though and he had tears in his eyes the whole time. We asked him afterwards how he felt and what he was thinking, and he said that he couldn't even begin to describe it and that he would never forget July 19th, 2025.

Sunday was INCREDIBLE. Jeziel's sister just had a baby, so she brought her to church so she could get a baby blessing, and it was the sweetest moment of my whole mission. The blessing was precious, but I literally could not stop crying the entire time because it's so cool to think of the impact that this one baptism can have. Jeziel just got baptized, and his sister, who hasn't come to church in 10+ years comes back and wants her daughter to be blessed. His mom who hasn't ever really liked the church came to his baptism and gave the sweetest testimony about the good that the church has done for him and how grateful she is for all the members and missionaries. His little niece is now going to grow up with these good influences around her and with the gospel as a part of her life. Jeziel came up to me after Sacrament and said that he's excited for his niece to go and be a missionary in 19 years and it's CRAZY to think about that. Because of one person, so many lives are going to be changed, and it was just such a special weekend. 😭

That was obviously the highlight of the week, but there were lots of other fun things!!

☆ Got to do interview trainings which were the funniest things ever and the sisters reallyyy got into it

☆ The Kidds took us to dinner with Jeziel, and I've decided I'm actually not going to leave the mission because it was so fun, and I love everyone here so much 🤗

☆ Blitzes with Sister Davenport and Sister Bank!

☆ A scorpion stung me on my lip while I was sleeping, and I've been looking like a Kardashian for about 4 days now 🦂💋

☆ Had interviews with the Colemans!!

My favorite verse from this week was 3 Nephi 22:10: "For the mountains shall depart and the hills be removed, but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the Lord that hath mercy on thee." 🤍

Love y'all and thanks for the prayers for Jeziel, they seriously worked. 💪

Letter 54: We Are to Act!! 🌊

July 15, 2025 0
Hola!!

Honestly, the main event/person of this week was our friend Jeziel. We've taught him for a little over a month now, and he's just a super awesome guy. We've invited him to be baptized several times, but there's always been something that's stopping him. However, this past week had some of the most spiritual lessons of my mission and really reminded me of the Lord's involvement in everything.

We ended up having a lesson with Jeziel every night this week, and they were all so cool for different reasons. On Wednesday, we had a lesson before he had soccer, and he ended up asking if dreams come from God. He shared the dreams he'd been having, but if we're being honest, I was about to say that maybe all dreams don't come from God, and we don't need to read into them too much because I was just not seeing a connection. Fortunately for me, our recent convert had a more spiritual connection and tied all of Jeziel's dreams to the gospel perfectly. We ended the lesson with a prayer, and the Spirit was sooo strong. Jeziel had tears in his eyes and said that he didn't want to go to soccer anymore and was just going to go home and think about what we said.

Then on Saturday, there was a baptism in another ward and Jeziel ended up going. We had a lesson afterwards and it was genuinely the best lesson of my mission. He ended up telling us about some of his fears and doubts which he hadn’t shared before, and then our member legitimately just crouched next to Jeziel and testified for 20 minutes. We couldn't hear anything that the member said because of the screaming kids that were running around, but Jeziel had tears in his eyes, and we could feel the Spirit so strong, so I assume it was good. Then our member left, and Jeziel shared one more thing that I related to perfectly, so he ended up hearing another 20-minute testimony. Jeziel was silent by the end of the lesson and then started laughing and we were like, "Uhhh why are you laughing, none of that was funny," and he just started crying then and said that he laughs so he doesn't cry, but that it didn't work that time.

On Sunday, we, along with the elders, decided to fast with Jeziel and pray that he could recognize the answers he's been getting. We came home after church and didn't look at our phones for about an hour. When we grabbed them again, we had 10 MISSED CALLS from people. We called Jeziel so quickly, and he answered and was like, "Did you already hear?" And we said, "No, we want to hear it from you." He goes, "Hmmm, well, hmmm, I'm potentially going to get baptized on Saturday." We asked him if it was really just a potential, and he says, "Hmmm, well, hmmm, I'm definitely getting baptized on Saturday." HE'S GETTING BAPTIZED ON SATURDAY! 🥳😭🙏😱🤯 It's actually such a miracle and this week was just so insane!

Teaching Jeziel has been such a testimony-building experience for me because we really had to pull out everything for him. He wanted to learn everything he could, he always had deep questions, he had concerns that I've never had another friend have before, but this week taught me so many things:

1. God ALWAYS answers prayers, just maybe not in the way we want them.

2. Fasting DOES bring the additional spiritual power and insight that we need into our lives.

3. Revelation is different for everybody, but it's also perfectly tailored to each person's individual needs.

4. It takes a village (or in this case the most enthusiastic Spanish branch you've ever seen.)

Sorry, that was a little long, but it was the coolest week of my whole mission and I wanted to share.😁

Love y'all! Pray hard that Jeziel gets baptized on Saturday and that it's a special day for him!!

Letter 53: Blitzes ✨️

July 08, 2025 0
Hola! Today's crazy so this'll be short and sweet.

Highlights of this week were:

☆ Got to go on a blitz to my old area and see all my favorite members!! Literally let me die in that area President. 🙏 I'm hoping President Coleman doesn't have a history of where I've served and that he gets inspired to put me back for my last transfer.

☆ Saw all my other favorite members at night church and Moises volunteered to bring arepas to my homecoming so it's looking like it's going to be a party. 🥳

☆ Blitz with Sister Davenport!! It was short but we had such a good time, it's so fun to get to know the other sisters that I've never really served around.

Our friend Jeziel is unfortunately off date for the time being because he doesn't quite feel ready yet, but he's still progressing so much and is so eager to learn, so pray for him!!

To be honest, this week was one of the rougher ones I've had just with feeling like we didn't get anything done (given the fact we weren't in our area for 5 days), and then some other things that were going on. A scripture that stood out was Mosiah 24:14. "And I will also ease the burdens which are put upon your shoulders, that even you cannot feel them upon your backs, even while you are in bondage; and this will I do that ye may stand as witnesses for me hereafter, and that ye may know of a surety that I, the Lord God, do visit my people in their afflictions."

Love you all!!

Letter 52: 1 Year?! 🙃🤯

July 01, 2025 0

Hey everyone! We got to meet so many cool people this week.

We met Isabela who's this super cute 8-year-old! We knocked their door and asked to share a message about Jesus Christ and her mom said no, but then Isabela told her to let us in because we're all "sisters in Christ." 🫶 They were busy that day, but then we got to go back the next day and share a message and they were both super interested!!

We met a guy at the park, and it was a cool experience! Honestly can't remember his name so don't mind that. We asked if we could share a message about Jesus Christ and then he kinda went off about the Church and he wasn't a big fan, but he finished up his thoughts and we asked if we could share a scripture. We shared a verse from the Bible, and he got teary and said that that was his favorite scripture from the Bible and asked why we chose that one. It was just super crazy because he didn't really like the Church at the beginning of the contact, but by the end, he was in tears and asked if he could say a prayer for us.

We met President and Sister Coleman this week!! It honestly still feels kinda fake that the Nielsens are gone but the Colemans are super awesome. They've just been hyping up the mission and the missionaries since they got here and you can see how much they love it already.

Something that stood out to me this week was in Luke 9:20 where it says, "[Jesus] said unto them, But whom say ye that I am? Peter answering said, The Christ of God." And then at the end of the first paragraph in The Living Christ it says, "None other has had so profound an influence upon all who have lived and will yet live upon the earth." The highlight of my mission has honestly been to see how Christ changes people's lives. We, as missionaries, try our best to help people, but at the end of the day, Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are the Ones helping people and bringing peace to their lives, and it's amazing to be able to help with that work.

Love you all and hope you have the best week ever!!
